On the Subject of Weight

by GNoel

Some may say that Barbie dolls project an unhealthy idea of what women are to children. In Barbieland, all women have the same proportions as all others: same bust, waist, hips, legs and make-up. Of course, in actual reality, people come in different shells, and you have to accept what your given, right?

This idea that we have that it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside so long as you're a good person inside will, I believe, destroy us. Of course, I'm not advocating obsessing with looks, crash diets, annorexia, bulemia, or anything similar, I'm just saying that donoughts for breakfast, sleep deprevation, poor nutrtion, and driving when you could walk or bike can't possibly healthy. I know it's true that some people, try as they might, cannot loose weight, and that is natural, we are not all built the same, but it isn't natural not to be able to run around the block without collapsing, or to live on the fatty-salty-condiment-laden-crud we all consume (Note: When I say "we", I am reffering to my part or the planet&emdash; in the suburb of a large Canadian city, and I recognise that other humans around the world do not live like this, although it has become increasingly difficult for them.), but come on people, this is going to kill us! The way I see it, it doesn't matter what the scale says so long as you healthy.

But of course, this is just my jerkass opinion of the world, and if you dissagree, I welcome yours. You can email me, use the feedback form, or post on the discussion board.
